New teardrop trailer layout
I'm designing my next teardrop trailer shape using AutoCAD. Here are the 3 layout I have chosen so far. 1st one is my actual teardrop shape 8ft x 5 ft floor. 2nd and 3rd are new designs both 9ft x 5ft floor.
Tell me what you think about it...
I had a question about how you constructed the curved sidewall/ roof frame?
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your question.
As you can see on the "roof construction" page of my blog: http://www.teardroptrailerkit.com/2012/01/construction-of-my-teardrop-trailer_2299.html
Roof is made of a UHMW plastic sheet 1/4" thick. The plastic sheet can be easily bended to fit the side walls shape. There are cross pieces of wood meant to frame the roof but I have found out they were not necessary cause the plastic sheet was strong enough by itself. The roof is srew into a wooden frame glued to the inside face of both walls as you can see on the page:

Hope it help you out.

Jean-René
Hey: Jean-Rene
ReplyDeleteI'm really interested in building my own teardrop as well, will you be selling copies of your drawings?
If so please let me know!
How many teardrop campers have you build so far?
Best Regards,
George Cardona
Hi Georges,
DeleteThanks for your good words about my project. I'm not selling plans or kits yet. I wish to do so in the future, but I didn't have time enough to work on this. I can give you my teardrop layout if you're willing to build yours. They are autocad drawings, do you have acces to this software?

Also 5 feet high, like the 8 ft long prototype on the pictures.
