I have finaly weight my teardrop trailer

I was passing by the truck weight station on the freeway near Trois-Rivières, Québec and it was closed for summer.  So I decided to stop to check if it was on and it was.  So here are the results: total weight with camping gears: 330kg (725pounds) and tongue weight: 30kg (66 pounds).

  1. How does this hold up when towing at speed? Do you find the walls shaking? Has anything come loose?

  2. Great TD! Do you have plans or a how to-step by step manual you would sell? I'm most afraid of the fiberglass part...I know other "foamies" will cover their foam with canvas but this might be easier....

    1. Hi, I don't seel plans at this point at this point. Altough, I have plans for the trailer frame and the teardrop shape. I would give them if you email me in private. I didn't write a step by step guide, but I think the pictures posted on the blog can help a good DIY guy building his own teardrop.

    2. About the fiberglass to cover the foam, it may be tricky to do. But, with some practice, the result is real good as you'll get a lighter and stiffer teardrop trailer.
An alternative I know would be to contact-glue aluminium sheet or a this plywood on both faces of the foam. I don't know if it would be an easier to do alternative, but I think the result would be really nice as well as the fiberglass.
I would like to see pictures of the foamies covered with canvas you're talking about.

  3. I would also wonder if the trailer was very warm? The plastic roof is ingenious but is there any insulation for warmth?

    1. The is no particular insulation. But I have screwed, from the inside of the teardrop, a thin plywood sheet about 3/4inch from the plastic roof which create some kind of insulation. But the main purpose of this gap between the plywood and the plastic sheet was to prevent condensation during cold night.
